OM-D opportunity missed, heritage trashed?
Feb 8, 2012

Is it me or is this a big missed opportunity. There are millions of photographers with great memories of the OM series. The design of this looks like one of those bad chinese car copies, not even a stylish pastiche. The OM's were fabulously well built and beautifully designed. They could produce top level images.

This camera should have been at least APS-C or preferably full frame and the pinnacle of olympus's product range. The design could have been retro but stylish like Fujo have achieved with the x100 and the X-Pro. Instead we get a gorky blinged up micro 4/3 at a higher price- 'weather-sealed' with no weather sealed lenses....

For the money you can buy an slr which will blow it away in terms of viewfinder, focussing speed (likely) and image quality.

Cameras are polarising with the money being at the premium end. You can't just rape your heritage and charge a premium price ....... oh but hold on isn't that what the olympus board have allegedly been doing to their shareholders? It all comes from the top - whats the chance of Olympus being still around in 1year, 5 years etc.

Big shame and I will be heading elsewhere.

Fujifilm FinePix X100
