Nikon D800 is the true 5DII successor

One interesting tidbit about the Nikon D800 specs: With a battery grip, it shoots at 6.0 fps... but only in DX mode. For all intents and purposes, this is a very high resolution full frame dSLR that can't shoot faster than 4.0 fps.

Isn't that exactly what the 5DII was in 2008? It was a very high resolution full frame dSLR with video but only 4.0 fps. In fact, the D800 ditched the notoriously unnecessary weight and bulk of the D700. This time, it's smaller and lighter --- comparable to the 5DII.

The Nikon forums are hilarious right now, because they find themselves on the wrong side of the old 5DII-vs-D700 debate...
