Sigma 17-50mm OS DC HSM experiencs

Gotcha. I've seen a lot of those reviews too; reviewers appear to like the non-VC/OS Tamron better but prefer the image-stabilized Sigma.

Anyway, I'm not convinced that I'd be able to tell the difference among the various lenses in day-to-day shooting, and I'm pretty sure all of them will be a giant step up from the 17 - 85mm variable aperture Canon that I have.
