DPP gets stuck

What would cause my DPP (I have the version 3.11.1.0) when I process Raw files it gets stuck or when I want to delete a file it gets suck also. I have to activate my task manager then cancel it then it starts working, I have lots of files thousands of photos, my computer has 6 GB of memory I have external storage device also. Any suggestions please Thanks.
