35mm f1.4L worth to upgrade?

I am using 60D and having the 35mm f2 lens as a "spare lens" just in case there is not enough light indoor. I find this range is quite useful for myself for taking photos for my little son (5 months old). Recently, I am thinking should I go upgrade to the L lens for this 35mm? Is the quality a lot better than my existing one? Also, heard that this is an old lens and rumor saying there will be a new version coming out soon...so I am hesitating should I change it? or should go for the other prime L lens instead..
