Anyway, back to the topic. There's an elephant in the room - what nobody is saying is that most of the regulars here can beat the tutorials in any single effort.

I don't mean to knock the tutorials but I've learned techniques here that are applicable to certain kinds of contrast/backgrounds that the standard techniques just don't touch on.

It's impossible to write an exhaustive extraction tool because of the permutations of what you want and do with the image afterwards.

The best tutorial is to post here and ask what the best technique for a particular extraction is!
