Maubrey! You are absolutely correct with the assessment of the adapter ring requiring an aperture. My Sigma 50mm macro had an aperture ring, so this was not an issue, but the 30mm does not.

You are also correct on the 45mm macro being my best bet. It would have AF and I think I wet my pants when I saw it has OIS! Something that is infinitely useful for my macro filming with my GH2! Then I noticed the price, and wet my pants again! For $800 I can buy myself quite a few Sigma 50mm macro lenses, or that and a 4-5x macro lens from Nanoha (sigh!).

So I guess this means that the widest true macro I'm going to get is 45mm at $800 ($700 + $21 for shipping on ebay); or 50mm macro with my trusty old Sigma 50mm without OIS or AF on the GH2, that I've been using for the last 9 years. :'-(
