Alternative for Ricoh RGD IV
Jan 31, 2012

I was just recently drawn in to street photography, and tried them using Canon xt2 with 28-70mm Tamron. It was not very successful because of many reasons. Mainly is the bulky camera and lack of experience. In few tries I had my 8 month son strap in front of me, and it was a straggle. I need a small camera that I can operate with one hand.

A lot of people like Ricoh RGD series. From reading people experiences it seem like the camera that I need. The only thing is RGD IV is $600. On my research for a chipper alternative Lumix LX5 came out again and again.

My consideration is the shutter lagging, and manual control on the LX5. On RGD people talk about Snap focus that they like.

Is there anyone who have experience with both RGD and LX5? Thank you.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5
