I used to support a group of engineers in a corporate environment which had the same problem. Nylon rugs on the floor. We tried the anti-static sprays, which helped a little. Then I brought in a bunch of potted plants, placed one in each engineering cubicle, and kept them watered. That raised the humidity and the static problem went away.

I live in Michigan. We have forced air or hot air furnace. Our home is very dry and the static is lots of fun.

I usually discharge the static from my body on one of our cats noses. That's gangs of fun.

I find a humidifier solves most of the static problems this time of year. Even a damp sponge in front of one of the heat registers makes a world of difference.
