So far, the HVLF20S has been the most useful accessory I've bought for the 5N. It's well worth the money IMHO.

No, you can't use "any" TTL flash. But you do have another choice besides the bundled flash: the HVLF20S ( http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HVLF20S-Flash-Nex/dp/B005D6C14Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1327775470&sr=8-1 )

Other than that, you're pretty much stuck, since the accessory port is proprietary, and the flash signal includes a non-defeatable pre-flash to measure room reflectivity. To use an off-camera extra flash you would need an optical trigger that will skip firing on the pre-flash.

kind of late ...

" If you want a more powerful flash, you have only one other choice: another Sony model."

Seriously? you can't use any ttl flash....??

and he does not consider aps-c a competition??....he says:

"Some other interchangeable lens cameras worth considering include the Nikon 1 J1, Olympus E-P3, Panasonic Lumix DMC-GX1, Pentax Q (I guess), and the Samsung NX200."

Nex-7 with kit lenses, Contax G 35, and a number of legacy lenses (mostly Canon FD)
