I can see how telecentricity issues might impact image quality in terms of resolution and light falloff towards the edges, but how does it account for jagged pixelation along fine detail in the branches?

Maybe the camera is somehow compensating for poor resolution there by cranking up the sharpening in just those areas? Or the G3's automatic correction of chromatic aberrations isn't working very well on these lenses (since the camera doesn't know which lens it's dealing with) and these artifacts are the result?
