Lens combination suitable for travel

Hi all, I have an intention to buy a 50mm f1.8G and 70-200mm f2.8G. Currently owned a 14-24 f2.8G. May I know which of the combination is suitable for travel? As my shooting style are mainly landscape, portrait and architecture shots. Currently, I owned a D90 and will upgrade to the upcoming D800 bodies. So far have not experience shot for travel, so would like to hear your experiences and opinion.
