Travel DSLR

I had a Nikon D60 that I wanted to upgrade. I had a Nikon 50mm lens and I knew how to use the Nikon product, so it made sense to stick with Nikon. I bought a camera body and 18-200 mm lens. I love the whole package, it takes great pics. The problem is that it is too damn heavy to travel with for long trips. By the time I board a plane with the camera and a laptop, it is too much. I have a little Lumix point and shoot but I love the DSLR for iso settings, white balance adjustments, etc. I need a camera where I can take some closeups of my jewelry designs and fiber arts. I don't do too much with distance landscapes; more product and people. This would just be for travel primarily.
