The problem with "curves before sliders" is that it'll make the sliders less useful (i.e., they'll mess up your curves). So as others have mentioned, generally better to work top-down and front-to-back, rather than the other way 'round.

BTW, the BaselineExposure tag is there to compensate for latitude in the ISO spec, in that a given ISO value (e.g., 200) can mean completely different things in terms of recorded raw image values from one camera to the next.
