In Defense of Cropping
Jan 25, 2012

I got the 30mm pancake about a month ago, and it's portability/pocketability has helped it remain my walkabout lens of choice. In the past, I've only used the 20-50 and 50-200mm zooms, so the fixed focal length is taking some getting used to. But as others here have said before, cropping an image shot at wide angle is an easy path to 'virtual zoom'. I'll still drag the zooms along on occasion, but no longer feel so 'naked' with just the pancake.
