Gel on fill flash on heavily overcast winter day with snow

Camera D700, flash SB-900. Please advise whether you would gel your speedlight in a heavily overcast winter day with snow on the ground. I have not been in such circumstances before and would like to hear the opinion of pros who already had assignments under similar conditions.
