I would have been happy with this from my D7000 and 500mm F4 VR

The 300mm F2.8 VR lens and the Nilon1 V1 are in my opinion the best combination.

It is handhold able / carry able, has VR, auto focusses instantly, has equivalent reach to 500mm VR and an extra stop of aperture. Here's a photo I took yesterday. 100% crop minimal processing in Aperture 3. I shot all day yesterday until the battery ran out and had a lot of fun with this combination.
