I wrote this before and was attacked by the vultures of this forum.But here it is again.

The orbs are probably created as follows. The spherical aberration of the lens is corrected in such a way that the circles of confusion of the lens tend to occur mainly beyond the point of focus. The circles of confusion follow the shape of the iris diaphragm which is roughly circular. Thus the round shape of the orbs. The sensor then blooms the circle of confusion, so that it is larger than the optical circle of confusion.The firmware attempts to limit the blooming which causes the black circle around the orb.

If this analysis is correct, the only correction Fuji will make is to the firmware's attempt to limit blooming. They will not change the lens or the sensor.
