Wouldn't 36mp almost require a tripod?

I know that 36mp is nothing cast in stone yet, and I've already pre-ordered a D4, but I can't help but be curious about one thing(please excuse the fundamental question):

If the eventually released D800 is 36 mp wouldn't you need to either be extremely steady or need a tripod to gain the full benefit of 36mp.

For me especially this would be uncharted territory, but what type of shooter would stand to gain the most from that type of sensor? Landscape/fine art maybe?

What about us who shoot mainly portraits and quite often landscapes?

I talked to a friend who loved the D3x after having had the D3, but did not like the high iso performance, and settled on the D3s.

Having had the D3s, I am really looking forward to the D4 and I do think there are gains, and maybe I'll give video a try.

I'm very confused and curious about what typre of shooter 36mp is geared for???

Hope I haven't pre-ordered the wrong camera.

Comments appreciated.
