DSLR's & Planned Obsolescence
Jan 16, 2012

I was tickled to hear another poster refer to my current DSLR (which I've owned for a year), a Canon Rebel XS, as an old camera. Its funny how easily marketing and advertising skews our notion of good and bad, new and old. I remember in the film days when a camera model had a shelf life of at least five years or more and was built to be the only camera one needed to purchase. Then, when you see near riots in China over the latest iphone, its makes you wonder about the soundness of our values.
Oh well, on that note, here's a photo of the temple of mass consumption and throw-away culture, Times Square, taken with my creaky, white-haired old Canon Rebel XS.
