Likely the folks running the contest have an understanding of photography from the past, where one snapped a pic, sent it to be processed, and then picked up the photo. Typical of the point and shoot users who use automatic settings, then take the memory card to the local WalMart or Walgreens for processing.

I'd guess the intent was to have no manipulation (cheating to use computer tricks) of the photos.......while not knowing that a digital image is manipulated in camera by the camera's default settings.
