Why does CS4 reject my monitor profile?

Hello, need some suggestions as to why Photoshop CS4 rejects my monitor profile. To make a long story short I could not get a good monitor profile for my Dell 2209WA with a friends Spyder 3 Pro (kept getting a yellow color cast no matter what I tried) so I created one with an older Pantone Colorvision calibrating software and colorimeter called ColorPlus.
Canon's DPP recognizes the profile as well as the O/S because when going to the control panel/display/settings/advanced/color mgt, the profile is there and I made it the default. CS4 says the following when I try to open the program " The monitor profile "ColorPlus Profile.ICM" appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software (which I did several times). CS4 then gave me two choices "Ignore Profile" which allows CS4 to open but does not use the monitor profile or "Use Anyway" which if you choose another message comes up saying "Could not initialize Photoshop because the ICC profile is invalid"
Can anyone suggest something here? Thank you.
