With the 28-300 lens you will be shooting at f5.6 or smaller apertures and you will have cluttered images with backgrounds you cannot throw out of focus - key benefit of f2.8 glass. 28mm is not nearly wide enough on a crop camera like the 7D where you need a 17-55mm lens for wedding photography.
