tabletop product photos - how can I improve these?
Jan 12, 2012

I have struggled a bit but have done table top product photos for use online, finally got 2 big lights, umbrellas w/ softbox and six 85w CFLs each light, and have done some pretty good shots, but I struggle with these black, white, and metallic boring, industrial products. My struggle is proper exposure to capture details yet not have the black parts devoid of detail and not have the white parts disappear.

Have shot the same products on light blue background but since each product is lighter or darker, end up with a webpage having 10 different shades of blue due to different exposure values on each. I can't seem to make progress. So I'm asking for help, please. Tell me how I can capture detail on technical products like these. 85% of my shots are acceptable, but these stainless steel assemblies shown here I am struggling with. thanks.
