15-85 or just get a G1 X

got 7D & planing to get a 15-85 as a walk around lens. my 24-105 is not wide enough. with the onset of G1 X, & from my G11 experience, this (G1X) looks like can cover what a 15-85 will do on my 7D. i know taht G1X will not be as fast nor close feature as my 7D but for people, landscape & street photography...that's good enough. what do yo guys think?
