Replacing Windows Vista with (K)ubuntu

I retired from my job the last of the year, and I won't be needing my laptop for work any longer.

I'm planning to replace my current OS with either Ubuntu or Kubuntu - still on the fence on that one.

I know I can use GIMP for photo editing - but is there an equivalent for Lightroom available? I checked in SourceForge, but I guess I can't come up with a right search term.....
