Pulling focus is not possible with these steadi- fly-cams.

Forget it. Even opening the memorycard door screws up the balance, imagine what happens when you try to shift focus.

The trick is (in low light) to measure the distance to the subject and keep this distance!

I sometimes even use a piece of (fishing) wire to keep a set distance between myself and the subject.

In brighter situations just use a small aperture and know your lenses!
I know the hyperfocal-distance setting for my wide-angles. That helps a lot.

And I use the magic lantern firmware. That displays the focus distance in the display!

The bigger and prof. steadicams have a dedicated focus puller (remote).
