Nikon 1- slow AF?

I have read a lot of reviews on this camera and almost everyone said that the AF was super fast. But then I saw this video and it got me confused:

It even fails to focus on anything at all sometimes. Am I right when I say that this camera has PDAF and CDAF and it automatically chooses which one based on the situation? If so, my explanation would be that for some reason in this situation it chose CDAF, and the CDAF on the V1 isn't that good. What do you guys think?
