Best "bang for the buck" printer?

As I get back into photography, I'm starting to think about a printer to make my own prints with, vs. sending them to Mpix, which I've been very happy with in the past. Would like something that can print A3 sized, at the best print quality for the least cost. It looks like one can find some very good prices on the Pixma Pro 9000 Mk II right now, though I think I'd prefer one of the pigment based printers from Epson - 2800 looks good though at $500+ is almost twice what the Canon is. Other options?
