What is THAT? I want you to take photos of every day things, don't disguise them, but shoot them close enough or just enough that eventually someone should know what the subject is. At the same time, try to make the photo as stunning as possible too; after all...we will be voting!

I thought of this when Richard (catman) put the photo of the smile in his stapler, and then that photo of the brushed steel, that I thought was a dead bolt on a door. It might seem to help if you have a macro lens but, not necessarily, because it could be something large that you are showing a bit of. Make sure it is an everyday thing. So we have a chance to figure it out and if we can't figure it out, it will be fun to go "Duh, I should have seen that!" in the end.

There was a magazine that was a favorite of mine years ago called GAMES and every issue in the back there were close ups or fragments of things that you had to try and guess what they were. That was the best part of the magazine to me. That's why I hope this will be fun.

Any questions? Good.... go see what you can find!

The competition runs from now January 5, 2012 through January 16, 2012. At that time the galleries will be closed and the voting will commence with a new thread. The winner in the competition gallery will host the next challenge.

Newcomers are totally welcome and encouraged to join the fun - Just post here if you need assistance to get images into the gallery or if you are not certain what's going on. We all started off clueless and make the same mistakes.

To post a photo in any of the galleries; just select the gallery of choice from below: Competition or Exhibition or Originals. On the top of the page you will see "edit this gallery", click on that and it will ask for a password. Enter "kickass" (don't ask, just keep it lower case) and you should be able to make it from there. If you still need assistance, ask and you shall be answered. Sometimes the answer is even the right one!

Add your name after the title, and make the image 800 pixels or less on the long edge, no larger than 200kB. Pbase lets us run these challenges free on their website, so please respect this by keeping your file size reasonable. Ensure the EXIF data is intact for the competition, with the date it was taken.
