I have the Sigma, and I can say it's a very good lens, very well built, and very sharp. AF works flawlessly. I'am a OS addict, because I shot many pictures in low light, and 2.8 + OS saved my day many times.
But I agree that for half the price the Tammy non VC is a very good choice too.
It's up to you to decide if you want stabilization or not.
In case you want it, I would choose the Sigma.

BTW, I don't know where you live, but I'm in France, and I bought my Sigma at Purnima Digital UK. That saved me about 100 EUR.
