Has anyone ever done a side by side comparison of these two great lenses? I know the huge advantage VR gives in low light but all that aside I wonder how they compare optically. I have the 80 200 and I can't help but wonder if I upgraded if I would see a noticable improvement in image quality. I mostly use this lens for sports and protraiture. I'm sure someone has owned both and will have an opinion.
Is your 80-200mm 2.8 a two ring version and is it sharp wide open throughout the range? The reason I ask is that I had the push and pull version and it was soft wide open from 150-200mm.
