No Battery Indicator on a new D90 !

My brand new Nikon D90 running on original battery shows no battery meter .
When I went to check it in the menu the Battery Info is disabled it says cannot view info in these settings .
Later I checked on the info screen found out an AC Indicator instead .
Please someone who has faced this before can help , or any suggestions .
