R1900 vs. 3880

I need help and I need it quick(ly?). The "problem" is that my R1900 has been very reliable and I couldn't ask for more from it. However the 3880 can be had for approximately $811 with the present rebates that expire on 12/31. I would like to try B and W and the larger sizes but having two printers seems greedy. Also I wonder if the gloss optimizer on the R1900 results in better prints on satin/luster surfaces than the 3880 would. I keep going back and forth on this. So little time remains. What would you do?
