Studio lighting kit

Hi all

I'd like to get a 2 or 3 light studio kit which would work with my Sony A55. I've seen some on ebay like this one:

Can anyone wiser than me tell me if this kit is value for money? Or will it melt like a chocolate teapot? Also, I assume the transmitter isn't compatible with my Sony? Any recommendations what I can buy instead?
