A free market doesn't care what you paid for something or what you think it's worth, there's only the cold hard reality of what someone is willing to pay you for it, and it's a balance among striking while the iron is hot, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, and maximizing profit/minimizing loss.

Even if you had somehow bought 10 NEX-7s to sell for profit, that's your business. If Sony could get away with raising the price temporarily to $3K, they would.
