The mind of the P7100 shooter ???????

Just got my P7100 and having a ball. Got me to thinking about how others approach their shooting. Do you shoot Raw and manual for everything ? Does the Scene modes always do it for you ? Do you use the Pet mode to shoot infants ? How do you all decide what to use and why or do you just auto through it all ?
