I am about to join the Panasonic Club!

Hullo Gang, about to join the 'Panasonic gang'.
I never would have imagined this a month or so back!

I am a very keen Apple Mac user...7 devices at last count, and use a Nikon D7000 exclusively, at least, till I ordered my Lumix LX5!

Also a mad keen golfer!! Checkout http://www.bhgc.com.au A pure links course, a few minutes away!

We live right by the Southern Ocean in South Eastern Australia...in the state of Victoria.

Another Nikon mate here in Barwon Heads recently bought a Lecia M and raves over it!

This started me thinking. I checked out the Leica equivalent of the Panasonic Lumix, liked it and went for the Panasonic. Guess with a Lumix you are right in the Lecia camp anyway!

Please understand, as good as the Lumix will be, and I know it will be good, my main shooting unit with remain the Nikon. The IQ, and video in 1080 are close to unsurpassed!

I have a heap of support lenses, for surf photography, bird capture, a fish eye, a Nikon 50mm prime. My main combo is the Nikon body with the excellent Sigma 18-250mm.

The other Sigma is a 150-500HSM OS, truly wonderful. Also have the Nikon GPS unit, GP1.

Have two external Nikon flashes SB400 and SB600. Also have the excellent Nikon L120 with twin image stabilisers and 32x! And, it's deep red!

Notwithstanding all the Nikon stuff, I am keenly awaiting the arrival of my Lumix...I know it won't disappoint! We are off to Europe in March and the Lumix interested me for compactness and IQ.

But, you can see I am pretty committed to Nikon!

Living where we do, there are so many wonderful opportunities for bird, nature, surf, landscapes and many others too! We are right on the famous Great Ocean Road and just 90 minutes from the recently crowned World's Most Liveable City, Melbourne, my original home town.

The pic is from Bells Beach, Torquay, 15 mins from us, and was shot, hand held, with my Sigma 150-500 OS HSM.......NOT MY BEST, but usable..next time, coming up soon....will take my monopod.
...

The weather and climate in general (and light ) provide year round freedom to shoot 356 days of the year, and some of the worlds best ski fields are only 3 hours away....as is the world famous Bells Beach, Aussie home of professional surfing. Then again, 3/5 minutes away we have the magnificent Ocean Grove beach and a beach to rival Bell's, 13 Beach....right across from my golf club!

Wish me well with the Lumix and please enjoy the New Year celebrations, I know we will!

Ron
