Get 5D Mark II or Keep old 5D
Dec 25, 2011

I've got a classic 5D that I bought new in 2006 long before I retired. It has about 37,000 shutter activations and works well for the landscapes and family photos that I mostly use it for. But the deals for a 5D Mark II for around $2000 are awfully tempting. I don't enlarge my prints more than 13x19" and don't have any need for video. If the weather is bad or if I need Live View I use my 1D Mark III, but it isn't full frame or as high in resolution or have the high ISO capability of a 5D Mark II. I use the 1D Mark III for wildlife and some landscape photography. I suppose I could wait for the 1D X but I don't make much money from my photography so I really can't afford a $6800 camera.

I presume lots of readers have replaced a 5D with the 5D Mark II, or decided for good reasons not to . Any advice for me? Thanks....
