Some great advice here. Everything that the original poster said she would be using the camera for says D700 all the way. D700, grip (can be removed when not doing sports ) better buffer than the D7000, low light, bigger more stable camera (a plus when shooting sports) 70-200 2.8. One thing to consider about having more reach with the DX is, in my case I shoot motocross and everyone in my area has 70-200 on DX, but imo just being able to shoot from really far away is that you loose any creativity in the shot, I mean how hard is it to take a photo from bfe. I used a prime all summer and really had to think about where I was in relation to the subject, and I think it makes you better, so, sell some of the other zooms? and get that 70-200 2.8
