I've been a platinum member in the US for several years. Yes, it costs $500 annually. It is essentially an insurance policy and is a tax write off for me as a pro photog. It is well worth it. Indeed, I've had several pieces of equipment repaired, and the service has been speedy. That 24-105 just the other day threw an err01 at me again, so it just might have to go back. Last time, canon replaced the entire aperture and IS mechanism. Just last year alone, CPS paid for itself, both in money and saved time.

Do it!
