NEX-5N frozen!

After shooting happily over 3000 shots over the last two months, I took out the NEX-5N on a sunny but cold day (here in Kyoto it's 4 oC). After about half an hour the camera stopped functioning completely and only after warming up back in my room, started to behave normally Does this mean there's no hope to shoot some snowscapes and ski shots and the like this winter?
any solutions?
Anyone with similar experiences?
