Rokinon 7.5mm vs. Panny 14 + VCLECF1 Fisheye converter
Dec 23, 2011

There's been a few threads documenting the use of Panny 14mm lens with Sony fisheye converter. I already have Rokinon 7.5mm fisheye lens but still wanted to try this converter cause it allows AF and full electronic control over lens at only $100. I just got it today. Indeed, it attaches to Panny 14mm pretty nice. The combo is almost same size as Rokinon 7.5mm, only slightly bigger. Rokinon FOV is a little wider and a little more fishy. I'm gonna be shooting with this combo more over the weekend. So far it does seem like Rokinon is sharper in the edges but I don't see any apparent edge blurring with the converter unless I pixel peep. I expected much worse.

Remarkably, the converter doesn't affect shutter speed (no loss of light), nor does it slow down super fast Panny 14 AF speed. Honestly, I'm tempted to keep this converter instead of Rokinon. I really like f2.5, plus it does much nicer shallow DoF close-ups.
