d5100 has much better IQ especially on higher ISOs, Nikon has much wider and better lens selection, on par with Sony price wise, most latest Nikon lens have silent motor and VR built in, so no need to have in-camera motor unless for some very old exotic lens.

The only reason to buy Sony SLT line cameras is for movie mode - but it's still sucks: yes AF is good but you get all AF noise recorded plus almost no control over exposure in a33/a55, plus sensor overheating.

Another "strong" point of SLT series cameras - fast FPS, but since EVF/OVF lags quit a bit and blacks out it cannot be used for fast action. So to me whole SLT thing is a waste and a bunch of marketing BS.

Sony Nex cameras are much more promising - better IQ than SLT series, excellent noiseless movie mode, if they can bring AF speed on those to a higher level like in Olympus cameras there would be no reason to buy DSLR at all.
