Has Nikon officially, or otherwise, announced any new FX yet?

Have they even mentioned the idea of a D4 and or D800 by name? Have they used those name designations in any context? Have they mentioned anywhere the proposed specs of these cameras? Have they said the D700 or D3 or D3s or D3X is about to be replaced or upgraded? Have they said anything at all in any context of a new FX camera or new FX camera timeline?

The answer is no.

So what are all you people going on about?

A January 6th announcement by Nikon eh? Really? Think about it, suppose they have no new FX in the works, do you really think they are going to announce that? No. Suppose they have a D4 and or D800 that's more than a few months away from being released for sale, do you really think they are going to announce that now? Think about it, what would that mean for potential buyers of any current Nikon FX camera? Do you think they are going to say on January 6th, that they have new FX cameras coming soon but no names, dates, specs or prices yet? Of course not.

I'm sorry, I see no indication, or reason, for a new Nikon FX being announced on January 6th. The perfect scenario for Nikon is for customers to continue to buy their current FX lineup, and somewhat because they think no new camera is coming soon, and also, for people on the Nikon Canon fence to believe that Nikon is about to release a new FX camera. This is exactly what is happening now and it's a perfect world for Nikon.
