GRD IV questions about digital zoom

Hi,
I am considering the purchase of a GRD IV and have a question.
What I would really like is a GRD with a native 40mm equivalent focal length. I'm wondering if it's possible to configure one of the "MY" settings on the dial such that the view on the LCD and the photo captured reflects an approximately 40mm field of view. I would love to be able to turn the camera on at a MY setting and not have to initiate a digital zoom (i.e. the camera is already zoomed in to 40mm).
Also, when using digital zoom, are the metering calculations based on the native 28mm image or are they based on what's in the cropped field of view?
I realize I'm losing pixels with digital zoom but may be willing to compromise. I also realize I can crop the 28mm image later but am looking to minimize time spent in front of the computer.
If any GRD experts have any thoughts/answers, I would appreciate hearing from you.
thanks,
Vijay
