Pre flash metering D7000
Dec 16, 2011

I have a D7000 and a P7100

When I put a speedlight SB-400 or a SB-700 on the P7100 .. the P7100 takes a split second but noticely visible pre flash to meter the scene, then the shutter trips along with the main pulse (flash). [And no, I'm not talking about the red-eye reduction pre-flash.. which is turned off] Result is a perfectly exposed shot, even when I bounce. My D7000 however, has no such pre-flash. When the speedlights are aimed directly at the subject, the shots are well exposed ... however when I bounce .. the flash/camera does not compensate and the results are badly underexposed shots. I always usually have to +1EV flash to compensate. Is there a D7000 setting I'm missing? I can't seem to find anything.
