yet still another dumb question

I don't have any expensive Canon gear nor is a Sony a77 in my foreseeable future. I have no cash.
Today I was wandering in the bush again and a farmer had warned me about a couple of coyotes roaming about back there. I didn't think much of it but later the thought struck me that they might attack me. Immediately I thought about hitting them with my camera but then I realized I was in a dilemma. Which one would I use? I had my E1 with the 11-22mm on it and my E520 with the 50-200mm. Which one would you sacrifice?
sigh...
