GH2 and off-camera Flash for about 100 bucks!
Dec 10, 2011

Just wanted to report that off-camera flash owrks great and cheap! apologies if this info is old, but I searched a lot and couldn't find anything concrete. So, here it goes:

Needed: 1 Trigger, 1 Receiver, 1 Flash

Flash used:

Yongnuo YN560 for Canon & Nikon (yes, it is not a mistake) - $82.99
http://www.amazon.com/Yongnuo-YN-560-Speedlight-Flash-Canon/dp/B004GZLFHM

Trigger/Receiver Combo:

Cowboy Studio FM Radio Trigger NPT-04 - $22.95

http://www.amazon.com/CowboyStudio-NPT-04-Channel-Wireless-Receiver/dp/B002W3IXZW/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1323477316&sr=1-1

USAGE*

1. Insert AAA batteries on Trigger, attach to hot shoe on camera and turn on
2. Insert AA batteries on Flash, attach to Receiver and turn on Flash
3. Shoot away! (modify flash power as needed)

Yes, it is that easy. Whole process should take less than 5 minutes.

Now, because this was a test I only ordered one receiver, but will soon order 2 more for working with 3 Flash units.

Drawbacks?

1. The Flash exposure is purely manual, but it's not a big deal

2. No hi-speed synch as far as I know, but will continue investigating and will report any findings.

Hope this mini-guide/review is of help to others. Please, share your experiences, so that we can maximize the benefits of this wonderful little camera!
