X10 at 233 mm equivalent zoom with Intelligent Digital Zoom

Taking photos yesterday at a local park, I finally remembered to try 233 mm equivalent zoom using the Intelligent Digital Zoom setting.
The cute up close third squirrel photo in yesterday's sequence was taken with no cropping and is preceded by 2 with just the usual full X10 zoom. Seems to me like cropping works as well. But my photos are just daily results, not tests.
